"...become aware of the versatile, therapeutic, healing powers of tea tree oil --- nature's first aid kit in a bottle."
--- The Tea Tree Oil Bible

With that kind of exposure, it is no wonder that children become infected with both bacterial and viral infections on a fairly regular basis.

Before you rush out to your local pharmacy to grab a bottle of disinfectant spray or cold medication consider the all-natural and highly regarded essential oil from the tea tree.

In hospitals and health care facilities, tea tree oil is used as a booster or a popular substitute for synthetic disinfectants and cleaners. Its antiseptic and bactericidal properties are strong enough to disinfect floors, walls, beds, washrooms and other facilities and fixtures.

Still, tea tree oil is gentle enough to be used effectively and safely in personal hygiene products and for direct application to your skin.

Tea Tree Oil For Childhood Ailments

Parents have noted that colds, scrapes and insect bites are three that rank high on their lists. These suggestions may help deal with the seemingly daily upsets in our childrens lives.

Colds --- Viral infection that cause sneezing, coughing, runny nose, congestion, fever, aches and pains.

  • Add 5 drops of tea tree oil to a bowl of steaming water or a warm mist humidifier for inhaling or add 5 drops of tea tree oil to a hot bath.
  • Massage your childs back, chest and throat with a blend of a light carrier oil and 2-5 drops of tea tree oil.
  • Be preventive. Wash hands with tea tree oil soap.

Insect bites --- Use tea tree oil to help keep those pesky critters away, or if they have already left their mark, reduce itching and ward off infection.

  • As a Repellent -- Apply pure tea tree oil to exposed skin, such as hands and feet. For full-body use, apply a mixture of 8-10 drops of oil with 1 oz. corn oil.
  • Once bitten -- Apply a drop of tea tree oil to the bitten area. Or, add 5-8 drops of oil to bath water and soak. Or, add 8-12 drops of oil to witch hazel or calamine lotion, shake and apply to skin.

Cuts and Abrasions --- After getting the scrapes and cuts as clean as possible by using a clean cloth and water, use tea tree oil to ward off infection.

  • Apply pure tea tree oil, or tea tree oil mixed with honey and cover with a bandage.
  • Mix 1 Tbsp. of rubbing alcohol with 1 Tbsp. of tea tree oil and apply to the area as needed.

Tea tree oil is also effective in dealing with athlete's foot, ringworm and other infections and parasites that affect both childern and adults. Discover how tea tree oil can help you, your family, your plants and pets. The Tea Tree Oil Bible is your essential guide.
